Smoking and Schizophrenia: What Is the Link?

I didn’t start smoking until i was in the psych ward for the first time. It was ubiquitous in the early 90s…it was advantageous to be a smoker on the ward cuz then you got to go outside for “smoke breaks”. They made it a reward to go outside to smoke and would take the “privilege” away if you acted out.

The Nami class i took about 6 months ago said their evidence show smoking helps against positive symptoms.

I dont smoke for health reasons but i thought that was interesting.

I smoked 30 cigarettes before and since 5 years i stopped the cigarettes but i use 15 nicotine lozenges daily. I was in my city in a group organised by the psychiatric hospital of the city with 4 others schizophrens and one smoked. One don’t smoked and the two others use nicotine lozenges or Electronic cigarette. So 75% use nicotine with cigarette or substituts.

That’s not healthy!

It’s not dangerous according my psychiatrist.

Hello. in my country the france pouches is banned. i think it’s stupid and chantix was banned also in 2021 cos of inpurity in the pills.
i used e-cigarette before but now just nicotine loezenges and it’s better.
In Europe pouches is just autorized in sweeden. but you can buy it on internet. velo is the brandname of pouches.
i used also in the past the ancestor of chantix created in bulgaria in the time of communism in the 60’s it’s like chantix. i order it for 100 pills for 25 euros and a month of treatment. it’s intersting like product but the problem with it, it’s that i restarded to smoke after 2 or 3 months witout cigarettes on the other hand with nicotine lozenges i never want to smoke since 5 years.
