I had been taking 200 mg of Trazodone to get to sleep, but it wasn’t cutting it. My pdoc tried me on Rozerem, but it only worked for the first few nights before I was up all night again. She then put me on Ambien ER. The problem with the Ambien is that I am sleepy all day long on it. Does anyone else have this problem on Ambien? I am thinking about trying the again Rozerem tonight because I am so sick of the sleepiness. I am worried it won’t work, though, and I will have another sleepless night. It seems I’m damned if I do and damned if I don’t- either tired because I can’t sleep or tired because I took Ambien and did.
perhaps you could ask to try sonata in place of the ambien? from what i understand sonata is very similar but has a much shorter half life so it produces much less next day sedation and doesnt appear to be as dependence prone
I have never heard of it. Thank you for the suggestion. I will ask my pdoc about it.
I take 200 mg of Seroquel and 5 mg of Melatonin at 900 pm to help me sleep. I go to bed around midnight. I have to give the meds that much time to work.
I just sent my pdoc a message through the patient portal. I will see what she says.
The Ambien CR takes about half an hour before I am out. If I try to fight it, I find that my memories get fuzzy.
Zopiclone 7.5 mg works, however the psychiatrist will only give you at most 2 weeks as they are addictive. Nonetheless they work. However antihistamines are very successful. As someone who suffers from insomnia Nytol, one a night which can be brought without a prescription has been extremely effective!
I don’t take the Seroquel for sleeping but, I find it helps.
I’ve taken Seroquel in the past. I don’t remember if it helped or not. I know Benadryl doesn’t help me. I take 50 mg of it in combination with two other migraine meds sometimes, and it doesn’t do a thing. It’s like taking candy, but not as tasty.
How’s your sleep hygiene?
I would put it at a 7 out of 10.
Belsomra is another one you might try.
Valerian Root? 15
You could always try a supplement of Benedryl 50 mg. It’s available over the counter if you can’t get a script. Check with your doctor though.
