Sign of depression

I think if stuff doesn’t make you laugh or you find no sense of amusement in anything thats definitely a sign of depression.

Also, I confuse anhedonia for emotional bluntness, or is emotional bluntness a byproduct of anhedonia? No idea

No anhedonia you can’t feel hardly anything

Emotional blunt you can feel but don’t express it

Your not alone i have been complaining of anhedonia for over a decade now and alls the doctors say is it could be either from trauma, or negatives from schizophrenia.

Theres basically nothing to be done but carry on living your best life and doing what you can

Btw its different to depression, depression is low mood and i don’t always have that

I agree @Ducky I think there is a big difference between anhedonia and depression.

Depression comes and goes but anhedonia is there all the time running in the background and the Drs say that is a part of the sz diagnosis.

Yes not for everyone though like only a small percentage of schizophrenics are so numb they can barely feel anything. I honestly have no idea if its from trauma or the negative symptoms, my doctor doesn’t know which. But im used to it now.

Yeah, I can see trauma playing a role in this

For me, my therapist has said that its common to experience a post psychotic depression so I’m hoping its that so it will eventually lift…

And everyone is different and recovery will be in different progresses and forms for different people. Thats what I hold onto

Also yes, I think its also induced by trauma for me.

For me the biggest sign of depression is lack of motivation to do much even though you want to. Imo.

Yea not finding anything amusing might be too. I do notice being on a significant ap dose did dat to me

Its not the meds anti psychotics necessarily @Zoe and being on the right med , at the right dose is the best we can aim for regarding that. But don’t do anything before speaking to your doctor

Yes I know. But for me, it was, just to clarify.

Yes I’m starting a new job since coming out of psychosis so I’m hoping things go smoothly.

I feel better in the sense that i’ve got some stuff going for me too.

Sorry to hear, are you seeking help with therapy for the motivation issues? I’ve just started for the anhedonia

Yeah i struggle with motivating myself to read but thats only because I’ve got concentration issues while i read so it puts me off lol. I do miss it though.

In therapy one of my smart goals is to read a page once a week. Haven’t started yet but I’m hoping it does something. I guess with motivating yourself for a task, its about breaking it down to small steps rather than a big one.

I know that feeling. I recently had cbt but I didn’t find it helpful either. I’m doing it again now for trauma so I’m hoping it helps me this time.
