Should I or No: Invega Edition

So my psychiatrist suggested that I take Invega injections so I can have a baseline antipsychotic treatment. What we want out of that is if I miss a dose of haldol or caplyta, it won’t be so bad. I guess I’m hypersensitive when it comes to missing doses. Right now I’m on 60 mg of haldol, 42 mg of caplyta, 4 mg of risperidone, 80 mg of Prozac, 1200 mg of Lithium, and 200 mg of hydroxyzine. Quite a list I know, but the Invega would replace the risperidone as they’re very similar and hopefully that means it will not affect weight gain as bad as I’m making lifestyle changes once again.

What do you guys think? What are your experiences with Invega? And is it effective?

if you still often have psychotic bouts id say go for it! ive used invega before. it was tougher than abilify but worked better. completely removed my symptoms whereas abilify only half takes them away

Invega has always worked better than risperidone for me.

I’m on invega sustenna and it’s been a good experience. I’m on the injection because I don’t process pills well. I also take the palperidone pill sometimes in the afternoon as I struggle in the evening on occasion. It’s good because it stays in your system evenly. Maybe you are having trouble absorbing your meds through your liver which is why you have to be on so much. I do encourage you to try it. Maybe it will help you.

Been on Invega going on 5 years.

Started off with pills in the psych ward, then injections when I left.

I recommend it, especially if you’re gonna get Invega Trinza (every 3 months).

I think to myself, would I rather take about 90 pills or just get an injection every 3 months ?

It’s a good med too.

(You’re on a lot of meds btw)

Hope this helps.

Thank you, @POET for your reply, it is duly noted. I’m hoping to lose about another hundred pounds again, so I hope Invega can allow me to do that.

Yeah we are doing some blood and heart tests soon, so hopefully they also check my liver.

Exactly, I’d rather be on an injection. I am on too many pills.

Been on invega (paliperadone) for years. I do the odd questionnaire from them, including male breast tissue and erectile dysfunction but that’s it. It does affect my pecker somewhat but I have a script for Cialis. If you got ED as a male, don’t take Viagra (sidnafil) on the stuff. It messes with your heart.
