I posted about getting a dog it feels like a lot of you doubted my capacity to look after one. Im having doubts now too even if someone is gonna be there to support me through getting one. Maybe I should get a bird first. I just really wanted to get a dog.
Have you ever had a dog before?
I’ve never had a pet before in my life.
How about a cat? They’re pretty independent and easier to care for than a dog.
We just got a new dog last November. My dad and stepmom work so I have to take care of her. My whole day is spent taking care of her every day. Dogs can be a lot of work.
See i don’t mind cats but I know they bring presents and my partners allergic.
Birds are difficult pets… very smart and sort of sad to see in cages. I agree with @Gamera a cat might be good
Edit: ahh allergies. My father is allergic that’s why I don’t have one
I can’t get a cat. My partner is allergic and if I got a cat I wouldn’t be able to move in with my partner.
What about a guinea pig?
there’s always fish, but that entails keeping the tank clean.
Ahh let me read up.
I think it’s ok to get a dog that’s appropriate for first time owners.
But I personally would wait till you’ve settled down a bit more with your partner
Guinea pigs require a partner or friend guinea pig, btw.
They are really fun thou
They are social animals and do best in groups. I’ll think about it.
I had a dog and cat as a kid then when I grew I’ve had a pet mouse and kept fish. If I were to get another dog I would seriously consider giving a rescue dog a home.
I agree there are plenty of rescue dogs who are in need of a good home.
They probably re-home rescue birds and other animals. It’s a win win.
I do not recommend a cocketiel. My mom has had multiple cocketiels and all they do is sit around all day and squawk and squeal and chirp. And on top of this, they aren’t friendly.
If you dont feel you can handle the responsibility of a dog, I would get a cat. They are less maintenance.
But, dogs really arent that hard in adult stage. In puppy stage , they can be some effort.
I prefer dogs myself. More friendly, IMO.
Maybe you could compromise and get an adult dog?
IDK
Get a kangeroo 1515
Plus, they live FOREVER. You never get rid of them. This would be a great thing if it was a dog, not so much a bird that tortures you your entire life.
