My partner are considering not getting a pup , it’s a lot of work and sleepless nights and of course the pooing. Because I’m not gonna be the only person to do it. He learned this after one of his siblings got a dog and he had to look after him for a day. Maybe a gunie pig , rabbit or a bird

I can vouch for birds. Get a hand reared bird. Birds are very very intelligent and cuddly if hand reared. Cockatiel or conure.

Yes they can be loud if not interacted with enough. However it’s the sun conures that are more known for their screaming etc.
I’m taking care of my neighbours budgies at the moment. There are 2 of them. They get quite loud.
