Should I be worried about Prolactin levels while using Amisulpride/solian?

I am currently using Amisulpride 200 mg for my sz. That’s the only med I use once in the night.

On the internet it says that prolactin levels increase a lot with regular usage of Amisulpride is it true?.. I am a 31 year old male.

How will this effect me? What can I do about it?

You can probably research on the internet and get better results than what people can tell you here. The most concerning side effect that I saw after long term high prolactin was osteoporosis. I would ask your doctor if your levels are too high. I take Abilify myself which actually lowers prolactin levels so I don’t have to worry about it.

Some people get a low dose of Abilify to lower prolactin, but again this is a subject for your doctor.

I have high prolactin levels but not to an alarming level. I also have PCOS so naturally the disorder causes high prolactin levels. Maybe you need to see a urologist?

I already have fair bit of prolactin as I have man boobs before getting diagnosed with sz so I don’t know where that leaves me.

Why not ask your doctor to get you a blood test if you are worried about it? Then you will know for sure if your levels are too high and you and your doc can take appropriate measures.

Yeah will do that. Thank you.

I got raised prolactin on risperdal. Had sore nipples. I’m a male. Yes. Get your levels checked and I moved on to zyprexa which was a great move for me.

I wouldn’t be too concerned if you’ve got no symptoms but still worth checking.

I have taken 800mg of Amisulpride for nearly 4 years now

My prolactin is high, but not dangerous.

The benefits of the medication outweigh the risks apparently so I am told.
