I thought SZA was much rarer than SZ?
I have no clue.
Did you do a poll?
I take APs and ADs, yet my diagnosis is sz.
Where do you draw the line?
Lots of people with sz are depressed due to stigma etc.
Maybe someone can tell me the difference between sza and sz with depression?
That would make a good thread,
SZA has mood symptoms totally separate from SZ symptoms. If the depression is caused by SZ it’s SZ with depression. Though it seems a bit arbitrary.
I agree with the arbitrary part. To me the 2 seem inextricably linked.
I used to know someone who used to get low mood really suddenly for no apparent reason.
They had sza
I’m diagnosed with SZA and hardly get depressed. I get hyper-manic quickly. I don’t take a mood stabiliser.
À therapist would probably be able to find a reason though or at least some therapists.
Okay I’m going to research this for us folks. Hang in there folks I will find the answer
Thank you. I’m playing psychologist but I’m clearly not!
Me either, I mostly have mania issues.
Okay I can only find non journal and non reputable sources so I’ll pass. Sorry.
Maybe docs look at the depression as negative symptoms of the SZ?
I’m sure pdocs have fistfights about it on conferences
I think for me Mania is more destructive. I have mixed affective state Mania.
I’m bipolar mixed too. I take a mood stabilizer for that because it feels horrible.
I had a bad reaction to Depakote. I just manage on the Invega 150 injection. That has some calming properties and try not to get too simulated. If I become hyper-manic this will mean some psychosis and I quickly seen my pdoc and he proscribes Haldol tablets, This has been working this past 7 years. Oh I did get sectioned in 2020 for 9 weeks but that was because the psychosis came back pretty bad but no mood elements.
I’m not allowed to take antidepressants as these will make me super manic apparently. My pdoc has never proscribed them.
I don’t either but apparently the antipsychotic has mood stabalising capabilities
I have sza… had bipolar from age 15 on then started hallucinating/experiencing delusions at age 30 so the diagnosis shifted to sza.
I was told by someone reputable on here that the prognosis for sza patients is usually better because we don’t suffer from flat affect.
