Does anyone hallucinate seeing and feeling bugs? At first I wasn’t scared but now I am terrified of the razor spiders and fire bugs, bugs that shouldn’t exist. I’m hallucinating less but still.
I don’t really hallucinate seeing/feeling bugs anymore, but I’ve experienced both. Definitely a very creepy feeling, and it kind of makes me panic as well because I have a fear of insects.
i see bugs all the time…
you get used to it…
i feel them on my back/front etc…crawling…it does not bother me.
know someone cares
take care
I do, but yours sound more interesting. I almost freaked out in a store the other day because I swatted a large ant off of the front of my shirt, but I looked for it on the floor to confirm and it wasn’t there. So I thought I saw it on my shirt again and repeated the process. It wasn’t on the floor…so I started pulling on my shirt looking for the ant. Then I felt more ants crawling under my shirt all over my abdomen. I had to override as quickly as possible. It wasn’t there, I don’t need to check anymore, there’s nothing on me… Anyway I see bugs crawling all the time. Sometimes huge spiders crawling repeatedy across the wall.
One time a large cockroach fell on my head at a quick mart. freaked me out totally. I luckily don’t ever hallucinate bugs on me and I am so sorry @cbbrown that you are experiencing this. I would tell my pdoc and see what they do to fix it mentally for you? I love you.
I have to have three therapist appointments before scheduling with the pdoc. They do this new rule to weed out those just seeking drugs. I remember before they started these new rules a lady threw a fit because the pdoc said no klonipin.
Yes, my last relapse was I believed I was infected with crabs, which I wasn’t…but I would have sworn to you on a stack of bibles I was.
The over-stressed and overworked feeling I had didn’t help the situation either. I was going on 2 weeks of full 8 hour shifts 7 days a week with no days off and more work piled up…then a rumor started they found the sick little crabs in the female bathroom which I used a few times a day…
it didn’t help matters much when they had to close the female bathrooms and crammed us all into the smaller bathroom in the back of the building…surely if the person who had left their bugs in the bigger bathroom would have gone into the smaller bathroom and well you can see how that rumor can get widely spread and quickly when the workforce was 80% female.
Occasionally the feeling of bugs crawling on me, or seeing bugs still effects me, but I’ve learned to ignore the feeling. That’s all I can say is try and learn to push it to the back of your mind and not think about it. The more you think, the worse it appears.
So you actually see them? (Just confirming) because I’ve heard of this one thing where people feel bugs all over them but don’t see them. Maybe check that out. I hope that doesn’t startle you.
On occasion I can see bugs…or I think I see them scurrying along, sometimes I can blink a few times and they go away, but yes I can. I don’t see them every time I feel them, and a lot of times I don’t see them on me I see them crawling around me like on my pillow, or something. But this usually only happens if I’m under a great deal of stress…that’s when my symptoms really peak up. That’s why I have to be careful about how much stress I let into my life.
Ok. I’ve heard of a different bug thing. Some people feel bugs all over them and the sensation won’t go away with anti psychotics. They end up sleeping on pieces of metal suspended over the floor with plastic sheets to try to get some relief. I’m just glad it isn’t that. It sounded like hell.
It’s a little different for me. The razor spiders feel painful when they touch me, like something like a knife is poking me. The fire bugs are just glimpses they seldom touch me
The tactile hallucinations are still with me.
For me it’s usually spiders and ants… Ant’s sort of get to me.
My problem seems to be NOT seeing bugs…small flies I see one at a time now and then and know they are there yet can’t see them most of the time.
Same goes for an entire police car + armed cop that appeared out of thin air before me this summer while I unwittingly drove around harassing the entire town not by my free will.
In fact an entire parking lot of vehicles disappeared on me only to reappear over the summer…must be an hallucination.
Delusionary parasitosis seems to be rare among sz pts, BUT (and this is a very big but)… IF the pt is using speed, cocaine, huge amounts of caffeine or other stimulants along with depressants (especially opiates), one may “catch” a case of this stuff. I have seen this several times en vivo.
I have not seen, but have heard of, this happening with psychotic spectrum pts who were taking strong pain killers and high-dose-level anti-depressants, btw.
What if I’m on a large amount of other meds? Like for high blood pressure, sleep, ( one of which is an anti depressant), anxiety and a anti-tremor meds. I’m also on two high dosages of antipsychotics. I admit I drink caffeinated beverages not a lot just a cup a day of coffee.
Run the list down to me (with dose levels), and I’ll get back to you if I see anything – or any combination – that pushes buttons.
Propranolol- 80 mgs twice a day
Latuda 160 a day
Haldol 25 mgs a day
Amitriptyline - 25 mgs at night
Clonidine- .01 mgs
Lorazepam- 1 mgs a day
Prilosec- 20 mgs
Hydrochlorizide- 20 mgs
Cogentin-"25 mgs
I don’t have them all over, more like in a concentrated area…when it does happen anyway. Sometimes I’ll think a spot on the wall might be a spider, or some kind of bug but really here we haven’t had a problem with bugs. I haven’t had a lot of stress lately either so I haven’t seen much in that way. The only attacks I’ve been feeling lately is severe to mild depression.
I also see bugs scurrying past me. The last couple months I’ve been terrified of everything been cleaning obsessively to make sure no insects can touch me. But i still start seeing ants everywhere , crawling on my body all over my face and in my hair. I see spiders on the wall one second blink and its gone… i get the tingling sensation thats something is crawling on me so i keep showering every shower i see more bugs. One time i thought a cockroach flew in the window into my hair so i was in the bathroom freaking out and cut my hair off a very large chop…anyone heard something like this?
Hi @Breiielle! Welcome to the forum. Typically, we like to leave inactive threads alone and just start a new thread instead. This is different than how some forums are run, but we do it this way because it frequently upsets users to have old topics revived when they are no longer relevant. It can also be frustrating to the person who revived the thread when they don’t get a reply, because the original poster is no longer active or no longer finds the topic relevant. Feel free to start a new thread on this topic.
Thanks,
