Schizophrenic influencers feel abandoned by TikTok

Why did they want to ban the hashtag?

A spokesperson for TikTok tells Input that the platform does not know how long the #schizophrenia hashtag was banned and says that it had been limited by mistake. As a result of Input’s inquiry, TikTok has reinstated the hashtag. “We’re determined to build a supportive and safe environment for community members to share their personal experiences with mental well-being, find community, and lend support to one another,” the spokesperson says via email.

By mistake. Sounds dodgy.

But glad they corrected it.

Weird, sounds like they reversed an employee’s poor decision.

It’s good that negative feedback and complaints can make a difference. It really is the first step in fighting stigma so glad they reversed it.

My daughter tells me that I’m too old and I’ll break it if I try - it’s meant for younger people. She said the same thing about SnapChat. My main takeway is that if she is interested in it then I’m not likely to be, so I didn’t bother looking.

I’d hate to be described as a schizophrenic influencer. Heck, I’m not even a trend setter - some cheeky bugger added that to my tagline when my back was turned.

Sir, you’re doing yourself an injustice!

Did someone just sign up for the 24 hr naked challenge?

You’ll have to join Tik Tok to find out! I am sponsored by the CCP and sworn to secrecy on that matter

It is for all ages

You wrecked my joke.

I guess everybody has their own platform these days— whether it’s makeup, gaming, parenting, or even mental illness.

It’s conflicting, because on the one hand, you’ve got peeps with a legitimate illness trying to connect with others like themselves while also educating the “uninitiated” and attempting to right long-held stigma. Then you’ve got folks— who more than likely have not been diagnosed by a professional— literally milking it for attention, sympathy likes, and views.

The latter does not help those of us with a legitimate condition.

And then of course, you’ve got what is now known as “schizoposting,” which is when somebody not living with the illness posts things or memes that they believe relate to SZ. Some go so far as to troll others who experience life with this condition by saying triggering stuff like, “they’re in your walls.”

…That one’s very popular, apparently .
