Posts: Social media or Bulletin Board

So I have recently made a couple topics that are related to schizophrenia, but realize they don’t really fit into the social ethos of the website. This is reflected in no comments and few views.

In many ways I am not a social person, although I can be, so the things I think about are not necessarily interesting to anyone other than me. So in a sense often when I make a post I am using the site as a bulletin board for topics related to schizophrenia rather than social media where the content is meant to generate likes and replies and spin-off threads and make friends etc.

I was just thinking and wondering if using social media changes the quality of a post in a certain way and creates a kind of social culture, rather than another kind that comes from ‘introversion’ where the content is not necessarily appealing to a wide audience.

Well I dunno if you were expecting any feedback, but here’s mine.

It is ok to write whatever is on your mind, as long as you comply with the forum guidelines. And if it helps clear your mind, that’s even better.

Very few people with sz are social butterflies, most are introverts as well. But sometimes you’ll get an unlikely reply from someone who is just then pondering the same topic.

One of my issues is that my mind often goes blank, either due to meds or to negative symptoms, not sure. Reading others’ posts here keeps me engaged and I am thankful for that.

I’ve posted things that got very little attention. It happens. It’s ok. Don’t feel bad. Sometimes people just don’t know what to say. If I read a topic and don’t have a good comment I just move on, but it doesn’t mean the topic was uninteresting
