Schizophrenia medicine for ADD?

I am completely off meds altogether, but I was wondering if there is an antipsychotic or combination for ADD. I was depressed before because I would always get in trouble at work all the time so I started taking Adderall which for 6 months was the perfect drug making me feel emotions of happiness i’ve never felt before, I was confident, It had eliminated anxiety and for the first time in my life I wanted to make budgets, clean my house and even lost 25 lbs of weight.

Unfortunately Adderall caused my psychosis after 6 months on the med taking just 10 MG I got a psychotic break and went paranoid.

My question is, is there such a drug on the market today that is safe for Schizophrenia and ADD or maybe an antipsychotic you have taken that feels like what I mentioned above?

I find that abibilify and lurasidone, (latuda) really combine in a way that helps.

I also take prazosin for nightmares (only 3mg) (helps)

trazodone to sleep sometimes (not last night)

and 150mg Zoloft a day.

I dont have money for a doctor, and when I do I dont usually trust their opinion I just find out what script is out there, the negatives and then ask my doctor. Most doctors have favorites based on sales numbers not research.

Im not talking about taking one without a prescription, it would just be really nice to have my cake and eat it to basically. The Adderall really helped and was needed im pretty disorganized, lazy, and eat too much, I also cant focus like I want. Not to mention pretty dysthymic as far as depression. I had bad reactions to meds but it would be nice if there was a perfect med for ADD that didn’t cause psychosis. I like studying meds thats all

What about a nonstimulant ADHD drug? I was on Strattera for a while. It really helped me. I think there might be others on the market too.

how does that work? it still says it may cause psychosis which scares me

your just asking to get further down the rabbit hole mate , just drink coffee a few times a day

get vyvanse. its a very smooth stimulant that you wont even see it working but your mind will work veeery well.

Abilify works for me. I have no “normal” ADHD meds at all because of risk for psychosis. My impulse control and ability to focus is much better than with Concerta or Ritalin. I asked a pdoc (not my pdoc) if they prescribe Abilify to ADHD patients. She said yes, if they are violent.

I’ve been busy. Working a lot. Boy scout leader, having an introduction course for boy scout leaders about ADHD, Tourette’s syndrom and autism today. Also I’ve caught I cold. :slight_smile:

Abilify is supposed to be weight neutral - it was for me. Abilify is an atypical antipsychotic that works differently than most other antipsychotics - it is a partial dopamine agonist - it ‘adjusts’ your brain chemicals instead of strictly blocking dopamine.
It is pretty good at warding off some depression and from what I understand is pretty good at alleviating some ADD symptoms - it is usually on the stimulating side of things, it was for me
