Scared of voices

I dont usually get super intense hallucinations but lately they have been. I just heard a demonic voice in my head, but i know it was a hallucination. At least im trying my hardest to hold onto insight, but it keeps slipping away.

They’re just noise. They have zero power over you unless you give them some by taking them seriously. I’ve been threatened by mine for three decades now. Not a single threat has been followed through on. They can’t. They’re not real entities. Just some weird echos bouncing around my messed up noodle.

Have a cuppa, pet the doggo, and do something to occupy yourself so you’re not fixating on rubbish that is beneath your attention.

Can you recommend things to do? I really dont do anything anymore. I cant bring nyself to even enjoy video games or any of my usual activities. I want to do art so badly but every time i try my focus sucks and i get bored agter a minute.

I would encourage you to think about art in that the process is the important part. If you come away with some artwork, that’s great, but you don’t always have to. For me photography means that I get to walk next to a pond or along a nice trail and feel the breeze in my hair and the sun on my skin. I see lots of stuff I try to shoot. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, but I enjoyed being out and looking. Having a few working images is just a bonus.

I’d recommend walking the pup to start with. Good for both of you. Maybe take some pictures of things that could inspire good art if you have your phone camera handy.

Are you set up for macro photography? You can usually find all kinds of fascinating things in your own yard or anywhere practically just by looking closer at stuff. It’s a matter of trying to do a bit each day and getting the habit going again.

That would be awesome if you could get back into it.

Hope you will find comfort and feel better.

Do you have any advice on pushing past severe negatives?

A lot of my macro work is actually done with my mobile phone and a $1.25 magnifying glass from the dollar store. Works better than you’d imagine.

Sorry, missed this. It’s a great camera and you can do all kinds of good work with it. I bought two of them used, both with the Canon 18-55mm kit lens. (I have about eight extra older Canon dSLR bodies as I teach photography during the summer - poach them cheap on eBay.)

You can do a fair bit with that kit lens. If you want macro on the cheap, get yourself a reversing ring. You can flip the lens backwards and mount it to the camera body. Acts like an expensive macro lens that way. They are about $20 on eBay when your finances permit.

Maybe this will give you ideas?

I have tried to form habits around staying busy. I started out by doing a bit a day and then adding more when I was regularly doing something. If you’re walking up and down the block to start with, that’s fine. Going from not leaving your home to 5 km in one day is unrealistic. I chipped away at my negatives by making myself busier and busier with hobbies and commitments. It took time to get there, but you can. I still have bad negatives, but I sort of shove around them and do what I need to.
