Saw the psych doctor

So, I just got back from my psych APRN. She is going to put me on Invega. I just got back from the pharmacy, as well, and the insurance said they won’t pay for it. Grrrrr! So now my doctor has to convince my insurance company that the Invega is a necessary medication.

I asked the doctor about me working part-time. She was all for it. She said, “Definitely! Stress makes your illness worse! And you’ve got so many symptoms!” I’m happy to have her support and opinion on the matter. I then asked her what she thinks about me applying for disability benefits. She said that would be really good for me and gave me advice on filing. She says I should file as soon as possible because it might take a really long time to be approved. She also stated that I need to get a lawyer, to help me get approved.

My doctor said that she’d even sign/fill out an RFC form (basically a form that tells SSA that I’m disabled enough to not work full-time). I’ll see my doctor in 2 weeks for a follow-up visit after the medication change and to talk about the disability situation some more.

I’ll first see how this new med, Invega, helps me out. If it is a miracle drug, maybe I won’t need to apply for disability. But if it is not a miracle drug, I will talk to my boss about me working part-time and then apply for disability benefits.

So, yeah. I’m starting a new medication… as soon as insurance agrees to cover it. And I’m going to talk to my boss about me working part-time instead of full-time.

Glad your appointment went well. Invega has been great for me. I feel very well. I hope your insurance decides to give it you and it helps you a lot. I’m on the injection and it took about 2 weeks to notice a difference and the longer I’ve been on it the better I’m doing.
