Does anyone use full-spectrum lights to combat seasonal depression?
Do they help?
Are there other items that work for this problem?
I bought an elderly relative a SAD light box but it never got used!
Treatment for seasonal affective disorder may include light therapy, medications and psychotherapy. If you have bipolar disorder, tell your doctor — this is critical to know when prescribing light therapy or an antidepressant. Both treatments can potentially trigger a manic episode.
That’s too bad about the box. You think you could find it for me? lol. I think I’ve had lights work in the past but I was sicker then and can’t say for sure.
We have a lot of sun here - like 300+ days and where we are moving there is not nearly as much. When I lived there before it was a problem but I wasn’t on Lithium then, either. There are so many differences to consider.
Thanks
If you’re on lithium I assume you have a mood disorder. The article above says that light therapy can trigger manic episodes.

Hmmmm… Thanks, I haven’t actually looked at these before but my doc was telling me about them. That’s totally reasonable.
I believe I’ve got schizoaffective - depressive type, so a manic episode is unlikely.
Thanks again - I thought these were more expensive.
