Running out of options

I’m so frustrated. I’m on 30mg of Abilify currently and it just isn’t helping enough. I’m running out of meds to try! The only meds I haven’t taken out of the atypicals that are available in the us are Rexulti, Vraylar, and Caplyta and I don’t think my insurance will even cover any of those! I don’t know what to do. I’m scared of first gen meds as I’ve had bad experiences with them in the past. Anyone have any ideas?

Wow thats alot of meds. You think they would allow a prior authorization or something to try vraylar or caplyta.

Have you tried injection?

Ask if your pdoc will try to get a prior authorization for you for one of those meds. The insurance company will see you’ve tried all those other options

I’ve been on one of the good old ones for quite some time and I much prefere it over the newer meds. In my country prize doesn’t matter as meds weather new or old is state sponsored.

I’ve only been on 2 or 3 first gen meds but I had awful experiences with all of them. Plus if I were on a first gen I’d likely need another medication such as a mood stabilizer as well which just increases my chances of side effects, which in turn would make me more likely to stop my meds again.

I’m not in anyway going to get political. But the American state could save a lot of money and human suffering by making public health care for Al I just don’t understand why insulin and new antipsychotics ain’t covered by a public health insurance.

I’m on an oldie perphenazine. As long as I remember to take it I’m alright for the most part. There are still meds you can take don’t give up.
