Some pdocs suggest risperidone for ocd augmentation with SSRI.
Anybody have experience with it ? Does it help ocd ? Any studies ?
I hear that is very irresponsible prescribing.
Risperidone can also worsen OCD symptoms.
It did this to me.

My pdoc says low dose risperidone can help ocd. I’m suffering clozapine induced ocd already. And now adding another antipsychotic which worsen ocd wouldnt cut it.
I’m able to tolerate SSRIs after reducing my clozapine. My pdoc wants me to further reduce my clozapine to improve ocd and add risperidone for positive symptoms.

For how long have you been taking clozapine?
I’ve been taking it for a year now. No OCD for me
6 years on clozapine. I had a relapse on low dose clozapine, then pdoc bumped my dose from 100mg to 200mg, and thats when my ocd worsened. OCD is bad since 4 years. And super bad since this January where i have developed obsessions towards girms/dirt/washing and i do compulsive washing alot. Its really very suffering.

I’m on risperidone and it helps a little bit, I already had OCD pre-SZ. SSRI is more beneficious, but it really works on tremendous doses, for example I am on 10mg escitalopram (lexapro) and maximum dose is 20mg so for OCD it is recommended to take 40mg to feel real effect.
