My left arm has been hurting me for months now.
I haven’t sprained it or injured it but it hurts pretty bad when I make certain moves with it.
I thought that it could be arthritis but now I’m suspecting that it could be the Risperdal causing this.
Risperdal can cause muscle pain, so this made me think.
@Anna I know that you went through arm pain while you were on Risperdal.
Was your pain chronic? Or did it only hurt when you moved it a certain way?
Do you know anything more about it?
I’m going to bring it up with my psychiatrist.
This is ridiculous.
I had arm pain with risperidone. I used castor oil. I rubbed the castor oil where I had pain and the next day my pain was gone. Don’t drink the castor oil.
Sadly it’s not surprising that they do…since the things psychiatric meds affect are called "neuro"transmitters people tend to think they just impact the brain but neuro means nerve not brain. And we have nerves literally everywhere in our bodies. So these meds tend to have much wider reaching effects than we think Unfortunate.
I think you’re making a good choice in bringing it up w the doctor just to be safe
I called the Pharmacist and she said that my muscle pain could be caused by either the Risperdal or Lipitor I’m taking.
It’s going to be difficult to find out which drug is causing this - if it is the meds.
Definitely talk to your doctor about the side effects you are experiencing! Statins can definitely cause muscle pain and this may be because statins lower CoQ10 levels. Taking a CoQ10 supplement can help replenish lost CoQ10.
@Wave, it hurts me terribly to get my Risperdal shots in either of my arms. I simply cannot tolerate the shots in my arms. It causes way too much pain. So, I have my nurse inject me in my gluteal (upper butt), muscles. And when she uses prilocaine/lidocaine cream fifteen minutes before the injection, I can hardly feel a thing. Just a small poke. You might try it.
You’re welcome! Whatever brand you choose, make sure it’s a water-soluble form of CoQ10 so you’re body can absorb it. Hope it helps! I’ve work with a lot of people suffering from statin-caused pain, and it’s no joke.
