Anybody get leg cramps from walking from risperidone?

On risperidone, if I walk more than 100 metres I get increasing pain that result in leg cramps as a side effect. I tried to go running a few years back And I had to collapse in agony after taking a brief jog. Does anybody else get this side effect?

I get really bad stiffness in my legs and back, especially in the morning. It feels like i got hit by a truck. The pdoc prescribed me some benztropine, which does help. I haven’t had any cramping, thankfully.

I currently don’t go anywhere, so it doesn’t really matter. It used to give me bad akathisia with it, but I don’t even need the addictive procyclidine anymore and it passes in a few minutes. I haven’t ever come across anyone else who has this leg cramping side effect, so it must be rare I guess?

I’m on aripiprazole, not risperidone, but it is giving my stiff achy muscles and joints, especially after exercise. I’ve been taking paracetamol and ibuprofen and having hot baths. I asked about this recently and several people said they had sore muscles from a variety of APs, so maybe this is a more common side effect than we realised. It sounds like you have it bad though, I wonder if these drugs cause an imbalance in the levels of the different salts in our bodies… Maybe you should ask your doc about this, that sounds really unpleasant.

Risperdal made me pace around while I was on it. My muscles were tensed while I was pacing.

I got it from risperidone and now from haldol. Joints sore because I’m on my feet all day. Stiff muscles pull at them. Pdoc says it’s a kinda medicine induced Parkinson’s. I also take benztropine as little as possible though. It works but makes me feel spacey and I loose concentration a bit. Works better on a full stomach. At the first signs of this ,my shoulder was in such pain. Went to the doctor , MRI, ECT. Maybe we could do surgery, blah blah blah. I went off my meds and it emediatly went away. Then I went phsycotic. So gotta deal with the pain but atleast I found out. benztropine does work, but take it sparingly.

No! Was a post awhile ago Risperdal does give a slight side effect of OCD. Being sza the ocd was the only thing that controlled my manic moods. Leg cramps might be caused by walking from ocd IDK talk to your pdoc.

I still pace around every now and then. I remember when they first put me on it I would pace for hours.

The pacing and need to keep moving the legs is called akathisia. I used to get it really bad and they gave me kemedrin or procyclidine to stop it, but they are both addictive, so you need to be careful.
