my doctor is switching me from risperdal consta to invega sustenna because i tolerate the invega tablets very well.anyone has any good luck with Invega Sustenna? I’m currently on risperdal Costa and it’s a decent medicine but it’s terrible as far as negative symptoms go. Zero pleasure etc. . Anyone here switched from consta to sustenna or are you on sustenna already?
and do you like it? theoretically invega is a refined risperdal. mainly looking for people on the depot. i imagine sustenna should be better because thats the idea i get after being on the tabets.
I am currently on invega sustenna depot was at 75mg down to 50mg once a month. I have been on it for 1 year 8 months now. Side effects are terrible insomnia. I literally can’t sleep more than an hour or 2 at a time, but I know people on it who don’t have this problem. Also I am a little constipated on it and I get lumps sometime at the injection site. I am willing to put up with these side effects because it has kept me out of the hospital for the longest time in 7years. I kept on going off meds and ending up in the hospital once a year. So hopefully if I stay on this medication I won’t have an episode anytime soon. I am just so stressed out about the sleeping thing because I don’t want to be on another medication for sleep. I hate medications.
I have been on it since October last year. (I think October roughly)
It works great for posative symptoms but not as well for negative symptoms than my previous AP.
My only side effect I am having is aching which I deal with a massage every 2 weeks though my psychiatrist insisted my aching legs was not a side effect. (But it started when I started invega sustenna)
I am managed very well on Risperdal Consta. There is no way I could go on Invega Sustenna because of the insomnia side effects. I already suffer from insomnia a lot of times.
that’s great to hear. I tolerate consta very well but for me I think invega is better. I already get spotty sleep anyway so i can deal with it. thanks so much for replying
I’ve never tried anything but Invega cause I have SzA but I mean when I was on it it kept my positive symptoms away. I felt kind of restless but like I said, never tried anything else so I don’t know which is better. Felt kinda stiff and had twitches but yea at least the hallucinations were gone. That being said I was on it for maybe 6 months and didn’t attempt different dosages or do too much research into secondary meds so… Hope that helps
