Lowering Dose Of Risperidal/Risperidone?

Have any of you tried lowering the dose of your medicine? Did it help with your hunger and sexual dysfunction? If i lower it will it help me with those issues?

Everyone is different in their chemistry. I suggest you go ahead and call your doctor about changes to your medication regimen.

i was on risperdal consta depot now I’m on the invega sustenna depot. the risperdal was ok at first, then I got moved to the depot, which was also ok, but it gave me chemical-induced depression.

basically I think the risperdal was too harsh on my dopamine system and it made me feel nothing.

invega sustenna, in my opinion, is much better. it’s basically risperdal but its newer and updated.

I’m on Risperidal consta right now. It’s working for the positive symptoms but the negative symptoms are horrible. Do you have hunger/not getting full and sexual dysfunction on your new medicine?

don’t get me wrong, risperdal is a fantastic medication, but there’s no way I could be on it without a antidepressant. that stuff works a little too well.

What works too well?

no, not on my new medicine. I eat like, basically enough to feed a small bird in the morning, and don’t eat again until dinner. I believe it’s the wellbutrin keeping my appetite way down.

my sexual functioning is now about average. meaning it’s pretty good, but it doesnt take over my brain, if you know what I mean

the risperdal. they put you on it to make your sz symptoms go away, and it works really well for that, but it’s a really strong medication so the negatives, like you said, will be almost unbearable.

Ah okay. I didn’t know medicine could make negative symptoms worse. Interesting!

I looked up the medicine you mentioned. I tried it once. I became very agitated and angry. I had to immediately get off of it.

understandable. I’ve heard of that happening. I take it because I need the extra dopamine, to be honest. it’s about the only way to get it really.

when I wake up in the morning after it’s worn off a little bit, I remember what its like to be on an ap by itself. it’s so terrible. I personally have to have dopamine to function. I don’t want to feel like I had a chemical lobotomy.
