So im taking a risk. I emailed a restaurant/bar about playing live music there. I used to llay live quite a bit. But that was before i was diagnosed and medicated with schizophrenia. I thought i used to be a celebrity and people loved me. I no longer think im a celebrity but i do love to perform. And getting paid would be nice too.
Im nervous that id get paranoid on stage and have to quit early. I have a ton of anxiety but usually once i start playing music the anxiety fades.
Make sure you practice your entire set multiple times including changing between songs. Theres nothing worse than feeling nervous AND being ropey on the material.
You should defo do it, performing makes me feel alive. Just make sure you practice. Might be an idea to record yourself playing and then play it back later and see if you can hear mistakes etc.
Thats great, you will get paid doing what you like. In that case, you really don’t have anything to worry about. As you say the time you start rolling the anxiety leaves. I am happy you don’t give up.
Thanks all. I just practiced. I havent picked up the guitar in a year. All of a sudden i feel like playing a lot. I played for 20 years. Started at 14. Im glad im finally falling back in love with music
Thanks all. I wrote an email to the restaurant asking them if they have live music. I will see what they say. Im going to get my music equipment out today and do a mock session.
