Can any of you claim to have had any success at rewiring your brain?
Yes. Just through meds though.
i reprogrammed my mind…
I’ve done it before when I was younger. Needs more time now that I’m older and having stopped being able to turn off certain things I didn’t like because of the amount of devalidation I went through. But all it takes is enough validation to get to that level. I was able to because I had friends. Now I don’t but I can validate myself because I enjoy myself.
To a certain extent… most certainly. Breaking behavioral chains and response-type associations that cropped up through psychosis.
However there are some real world qualms that I have which can send me back into neurotic thinking.
I do self-medicate with 5HTP for mood stability, and GABA to keep me relaxed. Been using 5HTP for over a year taken as needed. The GABA is something new I’m trying… there was a bit of slow-down by the end of week one, but it was worth the relaxation. I was still able to get through my exercise routine and write reasonably well.
The some how wound up in a drinking bender… oh yeah it was my birthday and people were being hella generous at every turn.
to some extent. it takes more than meds for me. it takes working at projects that enhance the thought processes towards productivity. reading, writing, staying in communication with others, all helps too.
hope this helps.

Anytime you learn something new, you rewrite your brain. Same with forgetting things. Our brains are being rewired and detiriorating with age and disease all the time. Drugs can modulate this rewiring as well.
So yes, we all rewire our brains to some extent.
you are talking about reprogaming of HARD WIRES?
They are callled “HARD WIRES” for a reason
“Wiring” is just an analogy. There aren’t any “wires” in the brain. New neural pathways are available to anyone. You aren’t going to know if you HAVE “rewired” your brain. You might find your experiences are different. Your behavior might change. There is so much going on in a SZ mind that it is difficult to know WHAT is happening. Medication provides opportunities for change, but you have to make the effort continuously, over and over, yourself…
