Respirdol Increase

So yesterdy after having an apointment with my psyhcologist, psych tech, and psyhciatrist (that order) I got my dosage upped again to 3mg from 2. (1.5mg morning/night). I still hear voices constantly, but my paranoia is less by like 25% and I’m not running around at work freaking out. Anybody on this medicine that is really helping or helped or not? I just feel like nothing will really work out fully for me.

Did they just throw 4 and 8 mg at you or did they steadily increase cause that’s what their doing with me over last 7 weeks and I feel like it’s too slow. It’s my first med btw.

the first time they increased it within a few days. the second time i was on it it was over several weeks to 8mgs and it worked but it made me feel exhausted

my current psychiatrist talked of putting me on injections for haldol. but i’m not feeling the side effects as badly anymore except the shaking that’s still bad. i developed akathisia from the risperidol though

I’ve been on risperidone for years.
It’s been a life saving drug for me.
I too am on 3mg.
To be Honest, I’ve been feeling very tired.
Would like to have my dose lowered but I doubt that my doctor will agree to it right now.
I was recently Hospitalized.

Respirdol definitely helped my positive symptoms a lot at 5mgs, but anymore than that and the ■■■■ would send me to the hospital with muscle spasms and contortions. Since then I’ve tried geodon, abilify and now have found zyprexa (olanzapine) which has been a game changer for me, I take a very low dose at 5mgs a day and am almost completely symptom free other than random paranoia/panic attack episodes from time to time which are usually settled with a klonopin.

And @SchizoBoy seems like from yal and others akithisia is common. I feel like I have to move constantly but I’m able to sit down and just have the need to but I don’t do it which can drive me a little crazy at times. And the only muscle thing I got is my jaw twitching/chattering.

Sorry to hear you got hospitalized recently. Has it made you feel mostly symptom free? I just started 7 weeks ago on it and like I stated above I’m not acting out as much anymore but still paranoid and no motivation, speech, etc.

That wore off with time for me. Now I take risperidone and don’t get sleepy. Of course I don’t get sleepy at all anymore.

I’ve tried a lot of different APs and risperidone is the most effective one.
It’s a good med.

I take a very low dose of Risperidone (1mg) and it seems to be keeping me from having psychotic episodes. I am still delusional and I get paranoia but I haven’t been to the hospital in a year. I tried taking 4mgs very temporarily and the side effects were unbearable. I also tried switching to 40mg Latuda and didn’t sleep for days. I could probably tolerate 2mgs Risperidone as I used to take that but I feel the same as I do now so no reason to go back to 2mg. I lost a few pounds, I am less puffy and less tired during the day. Good luck on your increased dose. I hope it keeps the voices at bay.
