Hi all. I’m currently on 6mg of risperidone but I’m thinking of increasing it. Is there anybody on more than 6mg, and if so how did you get on?

Highest ive ever been on is 4mg a day, takes away about 50% of my symptoms. Voices aren’t as intense, easier time realizing they aren’t real.
Side effects for me are sedation, and hunger, I gained almost 60lbs 28kg, but I’ve lost most of that by dieting and exercise.
What’s your Pdoc think about raising it?

Thanks for response @Ooorgle, I haven’t mentioned it yet I doubt he will want to increase it past 6mg Iv a feeling it will be too much, and he’s old fashioned. It’s these whispering voices that I have now. I can’t make out what they are saying though so they’re not really affecting me too much, maybe I should save a possible increase for a more rainy day? It’s a great med for me. I have no side effects besides mild oculogyric crisis when stressed. I don’t think 
have gained that much weight

Only whispers sounds nice to me, my voices still pick on me.
Yeah I might save an increase for if you have a bad episode.
Have you tried some therapy? Mine has helped a lot with being better about ignoring them.

Ya I think your right. I’m sorry you have to listen to that, I hope you can get on a better med that will banish your voices @Ooorgle. I would never have believed a med could of helped before.
I have been put on a public waiting list for therapy (12sessions) so I hope it can help me like it helped you. I’m nervous twelve sessions won’t be enough.

I’ll get there! Hopefully voice free someday, I’m not giving up yet.
I’m glad to hear you have some sessions lined up! I’m sure it will help. There’s a lot that can be done in 12 sessions.

I’m on Risperdal Consta injections 37.5 mg every two weeks. They work great on my voices, visions, delusions and paranoia. But, they interfere with my creativity and piano playing ability.

I take 4mg 3x day. It slowed everything down. I was treatment resistant before.

LS! For the last six years I have been taking 4 milligram Risperdal (Risperidone). It seems that I can not function without an anti psychotic.
My doctor increased my risperidone to 5mg from 4mg.
