Quetiapine withdrawals - horrible

I was on a pretty high dose for 4 months until I stopped. I tapered a little and stopped completely. It has been 3 months of withdrawals that has just ended recently. I experienced first anxiety, I was dizzy and had a hand tremor. Worst was the itchiness. My head scalp would be so red and itchy that I had to out it under water to calm it down. I also almost fell into paranoid thoughts, I would sit and think of some delusions, although I am on pretty higb haldol depot. So yes, antipsychotic withdrawal can cause psychosis

Thanks for the share (and the warning.) I’m on Haldol and Quetiapine myself. What made you come off it, and why didn’t you taper more?

I’m on 50mg but I think I want it upped to 100mg,… I just started it after my last PDoc appointment…

I could not work on quetiapine, I would come to work already drowsy as hell and I had to serve customers. I tried to drink like abaurd amounts of coffee to wake me up, but it did not work. Also on doses above 50mg is a big chance to get restless legs while sleeping and I felt like I was being tortured. Imagine being drowsed so much and your legs just keep kicking and waking you up. I also did not like how it felt on my guts.

I thought quietapine was less likely to cause akathisia…

Akathisia and restless leg syndrome are different things. I wasnt pacing back and forth just my legs were feeling if it was cramping madly

Im one of the lucky ones that doing 75mg during the day and 300mg at night dont touch the sides. My neighbour cannot tolerate it tho either - ive seen her pace on the stuff up and down my lounge. Sorry it didnt work out for you. Its my goto drug, and it seems to suit me.

Strange how meds affect people differently. I seem to have forgotton how powerful that drug is.

Yeah i thought that too…
