Long story short, Seroquel nearly killed me.
So when my psychiatrist suggested a low dose for my anxiety, I was astounded.

My pdoc just upped my daytime Seroquel to help with my anxiety (??) from 50mg morning and afternoon, to 100mg morning and afternoon. That’s in addition to the 800mg I take at night. So, 1000mg each day, which is not TOTALLY out of range, but dig this: LD50 for rats is 500mg. I’m taking double that. And I like cheese. Oops I think that’s just for mice. But their LD50 would be like 80mg, so hmmm. I’m not sure why my dumb*ss pdoc doesn’t want to give me an actual anxiety med, except that I’m already sitting on this stack of meds THAT HE’S NEVER GOTTEN BLOODS ON, so he has NO IDEA what’s going on with regard to my meds and my physiological structure. I’m foreseeing a large-dollar lawsuit in my future. If I live that long.
I hate that drug, it gives me restless legs, like my leg muscles are wriggly little eels. In the UK they prescribe it even if you’re not psychotic, as a mood stabiliser. So with anxiety added to the list it’s practically a cure-all. By amazing co-incidence it’s very cheap compared to other AP’s. what a sham.

Amen. The restless legs are murder, and when I tell my doctor he says if it’s really getting you down, take your PRN Haldol. Gee thanks. Idiot.
I tried Quetiapine but it didn’t really do much for me. Granted I wasn’t on a high dose like you. Hope you tolerate it okay.

It’s gotten to be a problem. I’m on so much other stuff that it’s time for a total reassessment, which my pdoc is strongly opposed to for reasons I can’t so far determine. I think at this point I’m just going to have to say “I’m not taking ANY MORE meds until I get a total reevaluation etc etc” .

I think that’s a good idea. You have to justify what you’re taking to avoid polypharmacy and all the side effects that go along with it.
I swear by the stuff. im on 50mg twice a day for “psychotic anxiety” too, and 300 at night. I dont always take it during the day tho - so ive got boxes of it.

For me Seroquel is a miracle send from heaven. It totally quels my fears for going to my big shopping center where I buy groseries for me and my mother who likewise has schizophrenia.I’m on 600 mg by mouth.

Oh thank your heart! Lots of people are vilifying it, but it has been effective and safe. I am very happy that you have been able to get good results with it, and please keep me posted if you have any additional new or bad effects. All good things to you!!
Seroquel used as sleeping pill is great but doesn’t always get me to sleep
I was on 50mg seroquel for sleep with 15mg zyprexa. It didn’t work, I couldn’t sleep and was still psychotic.
Pretty much sux as a sleeping pill coz it also causes restless legs which is f*cking torture… it’s seemed to work ok as an AP but I have no frame of reference, I was given this years ago as an alternative to Stelazine so of course I said yes

I got pre-diabetes on seroquel. I’ll never touch the drug again
