Do others who take quetiapine also suffer with constipation from it?

When i went over 600mg that happened to me.

I went up from 15 to 20 mg Abilify at the same time I increased from 150-200 mg quetiapine, and it happened. Bowels became super sluggish. I guess it could be one or the other or both, but my doctor seems to think it’s the quetiapine causing the constipation.

I’m on clozapine 325 . Clozapine is one for constipation as a serious side effect. I don’t get constipation much but I drink lots of water and eat lots of blueberries

When i was on a high dose i had very severe constipation and stomach problems. Bleeding etc. Horrid. They tested me for celiac it was that bad. When i switched medication it went away.

Seroquel is a powerful antihistamine which dries you out.

I’m on 800 mgs of Seroquel and 500 mgs Clopixol depot every 3 weeks and I’m somewhat constipated and I take one sack of Movicol(Mirilax) and that takes care of the problem.
I find the side effects of Seroquel very manageable and consider Seroquel as one of the softer antipsychotics side effect wise.

It’s good to hear a good report on the gentleness of quetiapine, notwithstanding the constipation it can cause. My doctor did prescribe a generic miralax for me. This helps.
Been on it donkeys years. Never had constipation on it.
