Questions about Hallucinations

I am curious about Hallucinations. I do not have auditory or visual halluciantions. What I have are people (I believe) talking to my brain. I am curious about hallucinations. For those of you that have them; do the voices sound just like regular voices? Does it actually sound exactly like someone is talking to you? and also, when you see people, do they look like regular people standing there or are they different because they are a hallucination?

I rarely have visual now, but I still have auditory and I find its different for everyone. Mine are angry voices that scream at me and terrorize me with mean names. I also hear sounds that arenā€™t there or sometimes people I know. I also hear my name called in my head a lot and it freaks me out sometimes. For visual I usually see shadows move and sometimes use a giant hand thatā€™s shaped as a claw to scratch me.

Do the voices sound like a regular voice or do they sound different because they are a hallucination? Like are they muffled or quiet or different in some way or does it actually, really sound like you are being screamed at?

For me since I donā€™t leave my house ATM Iā€™m usually thinking intensly and Iā€™ll usually hear someone I know intimately say something in agreeable or against my thoughts. I used to put a lot of stock on others opinions of me so I think thatā€™s why.

Sometimes they are a woman, sometimes a man. They scream, whisper, yell, talk normally. Itā€™s honestly strange.

Itā€™s more muffled, a bit from a distance. Sounds like people I know. A lot of the time Iā€™ll hear them saying they hear me, or even a little voice saying ā€œlike so and soā€ after I think a specific thought, as if they think the same way

Also do you know Capital Steez by any chance?

I have always been curious because I only hear one voice at a time and it is in my head. I donā€™t actually hear anything nor do I see anything outside of what everyone else is seeing.

When I have had auditory hallucinations of people talking they really do sound like someone is talking just like youā€™d hear a normal person I talk. I havenā€™t had an audio hallucination of talking in years though and those sorts of hallucinations in general I get only very rarely.

As for visual, I donā€™t know that the person Iā€™m seeing is a hallucination until they suddenly vanish. Usually my hallucinations of people last only a couple seconds. Like once I was driving and saw someone walking their dog down the street and then a second later they just werenā€™t there, gone. I do get hallucinations that are more surreal though that I can clearly tell are hallucinations.

Thank you for the information. That is very interesting. You will actually see a person that looks just like any other person and then they just vanish? wow. I thought that usually hallucinations were surreal, as you say, and it would be clear to the person that it is a hallucination. Sounds like a bit of both.

For me they are muffled and a lil quietā€¦ My Visuals are Ghost likeā€¦ While I have seen an old woman twice that was fully formed like she was really there. Most of my visuals are faded as well like I said ghost like. but still just as scarey.

I had friends saying bad things all day long about me. yes muffled at times sometimes yelling. I heard my mother singing. Just strange. I would call them and swore they were messing with me.

The people that you spoke back to, did they look just as real and sound just as real as anyone else? or were there clues at all that they were hallucinations? I mean, were they different than real people?

Iā€™ve seen a person standing in the kitchen, then walk briskly down the hall to the master bedroom, but I wasnā€™t worried, because it was my husband. Then he came around the corner from the opposite direction. Not a hallucination? He had seen it too.
Maybe it was my dad who had passed away a week prior?

In a different house, I was watching TV in the family room on the couch all alone- (husband was out of the country and no one else in the house) when I saw this tall, skinny man with an ā€˜Abe Lincolnā€™ stove pipe hat that touched the ceiling as he glided from the front room area down the hallway. He was dressed all in black, then I noticed his feet were about one foot off the floor.
Still not bothered I casually said to myself, ā€˜oh, he always does that.ā€™ (why I didnā€™t know) but then it hit me- that wasnā€™t right, and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up and I FLEW out the house without looking back, or shutting the door.
Earlier when I came into the house, I smelled roses, very very strong, and went looking for them in the house, found noneā€¦and about an hour later in the kitchen, I was sitting at the table when I saw the extra long home phone (landline) cord jump up and hit the ceiling about 4 times before I RAN out of the house. Neighbor were quite used to this at this point.
Does any of that count?

A lot of times it seems like there is a green screen with a movie playing on it and sound as well. When it happens, itā€™s plain as day. When I try to recall it later, itā€™s as if Iā€™m incorporated in the movie replay.

Voices, well, check for speakers under the floorboards of the house if you have rotten brothers like mine. Donā€™t forget to check the fireplace flute for the microphone. These were before pinhole cameras and then damn pulgasā€¦er, bugs.

Did your brotherā€™s know you had schizophrenia?

No body knew a Dx, but we were all pretty odd anyway, we never got confused for ā€˜normalā€™ ā€¦even today.

I think I had visual hallucinations when was acutely psychotic. Still am not sure if it was real or not. I saw once a person in white uniform in the middle of the road at raining night taking pictures of me. Because at that time I had a very complicated set of delusions I thought he was a ā€œjudge from hellā€. Until today I am not sure if it was a real person or not. Only taking into consideration the circumstances (late night, rain, middle of the road, white uniform like a doc, taking pics of me, and his strange disappearance) I think it was a delusion. But I will never find out for sureā€¦ Also at that time people talking to me, all had extremely wide pupils even in the bright light. Also do not know if it was real or notā€¦

It wasnā€™t until I had a talk with a little girl that came into the room through a wall and a chair that I figured out I was hallucinating. Other than that she seemed real. I even had a conversation with her despite her coming through a wall.

Fortunately I donā€™t visually hallucinate on meds and I havenā€™t heard voices in quite a while either but they sound like normal voices. You canā€™t really tell theyā€™re hallucinations except through trial and error recognizing the voices. My wife could tell when I was hearing voices because she would see me talking back to them in my head. I didnā€™t talk out loud to them. But itā€™s been quiet now for more than a year.

I am glad the only positive symptoms I have to deal with on meds are delusions. And thatā€™s enough.
