i think i have paranoid sz but doc said undifferentiated. but from other subtypes i have no catatonic or disorganised things. so I combine only the positive ones of paranoid & the negatives of simple. maybe I would be paranoid if i hadn’t the negative symptoms? maybe paranoid diagnosis excludes negatives?
These stuff are really confusing…i am fed up with diagnosis…
paranoids of the forum, do you have negative symptoms? if yes, we have the same condition.
but I read that affective flattening is absent from paranoid sz. so if I have it I am undifferentiated.
I have a lot of negative and cognitive symptoms…yes my mood is flattening all the time…
you have only negative so you have simple sz brother. I have both positive & negative
I have both positive and negative. Lots of paranoia and bipolar symptoms. Oh throw in OCD. I’m hard to diagnose lol. I have sza bipolar type
I have a lot of negative along with anxiety and depression…
Nah I’m pretty sure for paranoid you just had to show paranoia. However in the US at least they no longer officially use those subtypes. You’re either sz or you’re not.
I’m paranoid sz and I still have negative symptoms. Mostly lack of initiative and such.
I’m pretty sure the subtypes are outdated now. The new DSM just calls it schizophrenia.
Icd still uses the codes for different subtypes though
I wouldn’t think so. Personally, I never worried too much about my diagnosis. I think your diagnosis is just a starting point to begin therapy. Pdocs probably use other models to dispense treatment by.
My diagnosis used to be chronic paranoid schizophrenia and I always had negatives including a flat affect.
Same here. I’m diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and have negative symptoms in spades.
They have eliminated subtypes in the dsm5 due to reliability issues but I’m not sure about the icd.
