Hi,
I have been on abilify for 4 years, (5 year of solian prior to abilify)
I had 2 psychotic episodes and was diagnosed with schizoprenoform 9 years ago.
I stopped taking ablify for 3 months under doctors instructions (withdrawal was over 1 year period in very small dosage cuts of 2.5mg per time, the last dosage I was on was 2.5mg)
Then, I checked myself into emergency, I had no delusions or paranoia, but I had the following:
Blanks in thoughts
Felt like brain was not working properly
Staring into space
Very tired
Scrunching up face
Pressure in head
Trouble walking
Trouble speaking
Slow movements
Felt extremely stupid
Sort of confused
It felt like how you feel after a psychotic episode had ended, When most of the paranoia goes away.
It did not feel like during a psychotic episode and nothing like before an episode.
There was not an ounce of paranoia, no delusions and no replaying any events.
This was during Christmas time so my doctor was not available.
Emergency psychiatrist, started me back on abilify and to a large extent I have come back to normal. Abilify works on both depression and psychosis, so returning to normal on this medication does not indicate it was either one or the other.
I made an appointment with my normal psychiatrist, he says too early to tell if it was depression or psychosis returning.
Psychologist diagnosis - Depression
GP diagnosis - Anxiety
Emergency psychiatrist diagnosis - return of psychosis.
Psychiatrist - too early to tell
I have to wait 3 months cut the dosage of abilfy from 10mg to 5mg and then see the psychiatrist again.
Anyone else withdrawn from medication and found they felt like this?
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
