Prolactin(Risperidone) blood report came

So been taking risperidone 0.5mg since 1 week.

It says prolactin is 21.59 ng/ml (2.10 - 17.70). Already above 17 which should be max.

As long as prolactin stays in twenties I’m fine. I will increase risperidone to 1mg, will check my prolactin levels again.

Im worried if taking 1mg will double prolactin to 40s

just 1 week and it raised to 20? omg…

Before meds it was 9.50 ng/ml (baseline)

It increased like 11 points

Hope not

Even on a low dose I got it

So maybe it doesn’t matter about the dosage?

just one week it becomes 20, i wonder what it would be if used in long term…

Literature says risperidone prolactin elevation r dose dependent

Well pdoc even warned me before that max risperidone he can give me is 1mg. But I insisted we try upto 2mg.

Although abilify worsens my symptoms. I will try to see if I can take tolerate 2mg, and see if it can lower prolactin

As far as I know, it gets elevated during first week and then stays stable over long term

I think your being overly paranoid about prolactin @clinic.
It’s normal for prolactin to be elevated with risperidone.

You just have to make sure that the levels don’t go too high.

How much is high, too high ?

I am having a blood test for prolactin this week.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

It’s a better problem to have than being locked up in an asylum…

Only your doctor would know what is tolerable for you.
My prolactin levels are at 27 right now.

@clinic, I was on risperidone for 3 years and my pdoc never ordered a blood test, maybe it was before all the lawsuits though. 1 week is fine.

I know. They’re very similar though.

In 2011 I was on Risperdal Consta injections,at higher dose.No one mentioned prolactin…
