Please tell me how much your prolactin levels were at low and high doses of risperidone ? How did u fix high prolactin levels ?
Even on low doses stopped my periods which for me at the time didn’t feel right
Shellys, did you take some meds to have your periods back? I don’t have mine because of the meds and I wonder if some gynecological meds can give them back…
I’m not sure about that I wasn’t on it long and I had terrible breakthrough symptoms on it so I quit it now I’m on clozapine for a good ten years and hasn’t stopped periods
I envy people who can take a pill and the major problems go away
what about men ? how does it effect men on low risperidone doses.
Some men breast leek I think
everhopeful, yes i know abilify decreases prolactin but taking 3 antipsychotics does not feel right.
I’m already on clozapine and after adding risperidone to it, then i would also have to add abilify to fix prolactin. Total 3 antipsychotics
I had to switch from Risperdal to Invega
and the leaking breasts went away
I’m not sure the danger of having high prolactin levels
but I bet it’s not good.
Just a tiny bit of abilify though.
If i have to take abilify, i can only take 10mg, not more not less. Doses between 2mg - 5mg worsens my psychosis,
I think there are other meds to help with prolactin. Talk to your doc.
@Vertigo @anon93437440 , what is your experience with risperidone and side effects ?
I got twitching eye
it went away on Invega
you don’t want to try this one
it’s a sister pill anyway
these are the only ones I can handle.
twitching eye sounds like partial seizure, yea ?
Don’t have much options - i can either add amisulpride or risperidone to clozapine. Other drugs r not much effective
I did better on amisulpiride and it improves mood
I just hope after adding risperidone or amisulpride will allow me to tolerate all antidepressants like SSRIs before. After my 1st relapse, all antidepressants(SSRIs) worsen my psychosis. Before relapse it was not the case.
Someone said after adding risperidone to clozapine, it might allow me tolerate SSRI as well. I also like the idea that risperidone improves cognition specially executive function and working memory. [1]

Being on antidepressants is essential for me
Not sure it makes my breakthrough symptoms worse but it helps me manage them better and has me motivated and prevents depression
My doctor says I’m ok to stay on antidepressants
So I play it safe
Risperidone works for me.
It’s been very effective at 3mg, my current dose.
Adding a low dose of Abilify should be fine for you.
I would talk to your doctor about it.
My prolactin levels are high but not so elevated to the point where it’s a concern.
