Probiotic supplement worth it?

I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with taking probiotic supplements, did it help you health?

I just posted this recent research

Wow, that seems amazing, I’ll read it. But what does co-administration mean?

Co administration means " taken together "

I have tried probiotics a few times, but it wasn’t noticable in my case.

Same here. My dad wanted me to take them but I didn’t notice any difference.

I noticed dramatic results, the first time I took one, and it wasn’t even a very good one. Other times, I haven’t noticed much.

I am taking them but with no noticeable difference between when I did not take them and when I took them.

Yes and they help me. I take them for diverticular disease, but they give me a mild boost with negative symptoms. I don’t buy probiotics because they are too expensive for the ones that work (if they’re not refrigerated, they’re not fresh). I make my own by fermenting my own sauerkraut at home.

Most of the probiotics they sell in the stores don’t work noticeably for me. The ones that you keep refrigeated do, but they are so costly.

I think probiotics don’t do much.

Prebiotics found in vegetables are better.

They help to encourage friendly bacteria to grow in the digestive tract.

As opposed to trying to make foreign bacteria stick there, which is what probiotics aim to do.

As far as probiotics go if you don’t need to repopulate your gut because you’ve been ill, maybe a bout of diarrhea or perhaps have taken antibiotics, generally speaking most people are lacking in fibers and other prebiotics and of course they can benefit quicker from introducing probiotics but it’s not a sustainable long term solution to improving your gut health, it’s like a starving population taking in immigrants to keep a higher turnover and maintain the population stable, not exactly ideal, eventually you might want to give them some food instead of new people.

As for vitamin D most people have a deficiency or an insufficiency there, especially during winter, and supplementation is generally considered good practice. Vitamin D plays a vital role in brain Serotonin and so a vitamin D insufficiency could be even more impactful than in normal people in people taking anti-psychotics, artificially creating a seasonal imbalance in brain Serotonin levels, negatively impacting the ability of our medication to target a year-round reliable Serotonin balance in our brain. There are other factors that can make a vitamin D deficiency impactful in the context of antipsychotic medication, like its relation with testosterone levels. A vitamin D deficiency for example has a negative impact on testosterone levels and since antipsychotics also have a negative impact on testosterone levels, by fixing the vitamin D deficiency, or even just raising it within an healthy range, you could mitigate the problem to an extent.

i take a probiotic and 5000iu vit D3 everyday. and a multivitamin, b6, and magnesium

This payday which is two days away I’m buying into it.

On a diet and really want to incorporate a supplement which really helps with exercise but finding my intestinal health to be compromised. I’m 50. Stuff don’t work as it should perhaps but I’m really looking into it and giving it a go.

Seriously. Had such good improvements in mental health with a diet with both positives and negatives. It’s different so keeping up intestinal and gut health is a no brainer.

Probiotics mostly help me with cognitive functions, but they also reduce my positives, and increase my mood. I strongly recommend to try them.

Do you think I could just eat greek yoghurt instead? I have been eating it for a few days and I think I feel better, I’m not sure if it’s placebo though.

Check what strains of bacteria are in this yoghurt. I think there is only one there, probiotics usually have more than one, which is why they probably work better.
