Possible Tardive Dyskinesia?

I’ve noticed that I’m making sucking movements with my tongue against my front teeth.
This is new and I can’t really stop.

It’s kind of subtle on the outside but it’s becoming habitual.
I really can’t stop!

I’m concerned that it’s the start of Tardive Dyskinesia.

If it continues I’m going to bring it up to my pdoc.

Man I’m getting tired of this.

Call your doctor right away! TD can be treated and stopped, but if it goes on too long, it could become permanent.

It could be an early sign of TD. Keep observing it and bring this to your Pdoc.

I hope she won’t switch meds on me!

If I remember, there are add-on meds that can treat TD

Do you know which kind of add on meds?
I’m going to have to research it more.
Thanks @Ninjastar

I remember jayster had experience in treating his TD. He said about a kind of amino acid. You can PM him.

Good news!
The mouth movement has suddenly stopped all at once!
Still going to keep an eye on it.

I see my pdoc next week.

I take Cogentin for mine. But, I was told by my pdoc that my symptoms were EPS symptoms.

Tell your psychiatrist immediately. If detected early it is easy to manage.

I used to have those weird and involuntary tongue and mouth movements.

My mom and dad who happen to be obs/gyne and internist didn’t notice it. My dad’s close friend who is psychiatrist happened to notice and warn us about it when he had visited to see us.

Heck my parents still didn’t care. I was also naive that I didn’t mention it to my psychiatrist.

I realized actual problem when my sister told that she didn’t want me to drop her off at her friends because I was making weird faces. And it was embarrassing her.

Then I reported about the issues to my psychiatrist. I think he had prescribed me some dopamine agonist. And my tongue movements stopped within a week.

Are you taking any first gen antipsychotics? Or are you under polypharmacy?

Changing from one antipsychotic to another can also cause TD.

Tell your doctor about it immediately. There is no reason not to.
