PIP application

Got denied… Time to appeal?

Yes, you could appeal. In the US, disability is really hard to get if you’re working though.

Ask for a mandontary reconsideration and make sure your cpn or support worker fills it in for you. My dad got denied then asked for reconsideration and he got pip

Are you working at all? Speaking to others from my group, it tends to put a spanner in the works. You should have got it tho. Yes - Of Course Appeal.

I’ll appeal but I’ll get denied. I might as well forget about it.

I’m sorry, what does PIP stand for?

Personal Independence Payments

You wont get denied aslong as a support worker fills it in for you looks alot better coming from them trust me

Brit here.
How many points short were you?
If it was less than 5 than definitely appeal.
If it was less than 7 it may be worth reapplying with the help of CAB.

I’ve been denied twice and I really regret not appealing it the second time. I was only one point short!

I’m due a change of circumstances decision on my pip. Dunno if I will be accepted anymore cos it’s a positive change to my condition.
Anyways if u feel u deserve the pip award u should defo appeal. Just be prepared that it may go to court but its nothing to be afraid of (like I initially was) if u feel u deserve it. Its also nothing to be stressed over as long as u prepare ur reasons cos its easy to get nervous and blank out so if I need to appeal I will definitely prepare.
Good luck if you decide to go ahead with the appeal.

A letter from gp can really help if u could get one… Like a healthcare professional

Call me devious - but i wouldnt ruddy tell them. Why shoot yourself in the foot?

I dont phone and tell them ive been well for a month - for all i know i could be ill again a few months later.

yea I know wat u mean things could dam well change again, but the thing is it makes my mind feel clearer.
they once called me up about how much money I have saved and it was more than we were allowed so I read all the pip rules and noticed it said we should also let them know if there are ANY changes to our condition so yea feels better to me being clear even if it will change again. fingers crossed it don’t.

anyhows, I believe I should still be getting pip so Im nt too worried. Hopefully they agree

That kind of thing worries me . I guess it depends on how they interpret things . I’m doing better than I was , but I’m getting a fair amount of support . The picture would be less rosy without that support .

Blimey your too honest. 151151515

I got denied the first time when I did a face to face consultation. The report was full of lies and I disagreed with pretty much the whole thing based on my recollection of the discussion

The second time I refused to do a face to face and gave them my CPN’s contact information.

They spoke to him and then signed it off without seeing me.

You need to get your care team on side. For me a half arsed letter the first time wasn’t enough, but the second letter and a phone call with the CPN solved it.

I still don’t understand why I got points on some things but not others.

It’s such a flawed system.

My advice is apply, appeal and if that fails apply again in 6 months and they don’t take the previous attempts info into consideration

I got zero points on everything and even though I was extremely anxious she said I appeared fine… I don’t know how to argue with that.

That really sucks dude. Did you supply them with any evidence from you GP/PDoc?

I got awarded PIP without a medical. I also got awarded high rate on both awards. I live in supported living. Been deemed to lack capacity with finances.

Didn’t have any evidence with me I just wrote down reasons. I’m gonna ask for my appeal though
