Failed to get PIP (Personal independence Payment) UK

So the dreaded letter came this morning, after 5 months of worrying a form that took 4hrs to complete and a train ride to some obscure ctiy for assessment! I will now be over £40pw worse off.

The only plus is I still get DLA for the next 4 weeks, although I won’t be moved to the new benefit.

I’ve read their letter and think even at appeal I won’t get PIP. :frowning:

Sorry to hear that buddy. Do you see a CPN or psychiatrist? Did they write a letter of support?

i completely emphasise, the rules are more tight than they were.

Nope been discharged for a few years now

My support worker has recently also and was off on sick leave when I did the application and she has now moved on to greener pastures. :frowning:

That’s a bummer dude. But I would certainly consider appealing it - heard quite a lot of decisions are overturned.

You should appeal. ATOS have stopped my benefits in the past and when I appealed it got sorted out. ATOS are only interested in cutting your benefits to meet targets. If you are living on your own you will be £115 pw worse off as you are not entitled to the severe disability component of ESA which is an extra £60 pw. You should appeal you have a severe mental illness.

I don’t get the severe disability premium, just ESA support group and Disability income guarantee which is worth another £15ish

Just thought I would mention it. I don’t get it as I live with my parents. You would get it if you got PIP, thats if you live on your own. I didn’t know about it until I got on the PIP benefit, I was on lower rate DLA and you don’t get it if your on that.

Sorry to hear of your situation. I do think if you are up to it it would be worth appealing. People with severe mental illness should get a reasonable amount to live on without depending on the lottery of PIP.

I used to be on lower rate mobility and lower rate care for my DLA!

I don’t get how living with your parents would affect your rate, but that’s the DWP for you.

I might appeal, but I think because a move form supported accommodation to my own place is on the cards… The last thing I want to do is to give them the excuse of my changing housing circumstances.

I’m thinking about going to the CAB and getting them to help me, with either a re application in a few months or a appeal.
