Physics poll: Einstein vs Newton

Who do you think was more intelligent? Is Einstein? Newton? Both? Vote and talk!

I wouldn’t say one was more intelligent than the other, that sort of thing is quite difficult to ascertain. especially between different era’s of time, but i prefer Newton in some way and Einstein in other ways. Both are quit similar to me

Seems like Einstein was better with more complex science. One must’ve had a lot of common sense.

To be honest, Newton blows me away that he discovered gravity that long ago. Very smart man, indeed.

How about the apple which Newton used as an analogy. Dr.Apple gets my vote. :apple:

Honestly I am POed about the intellectual state of America right now, I think there was a Ohio train video which explains my attitude of USA ‘science and innovation’.

Somehow, by some miracle… the train refused to fall off the tracks. So the guy who rammed it across probably gets the Nobel peace prize and every scientific award for his bravery and sheer luck.

That makes more sense than the Einstein and Newton mythologies. Well at least they did something, and are not famous just for being famous, so they get a pass.

Dr.Apple still wins my vote, regardless.
Practical, sweet, delicious and crunchy, one a day keeps the hunger games at bay.

I also want to add, Newton created an entire field of maths for his idea. Whereas Einstein only borrowed an existing set of maths to apply to General Relativity - this kinda edges Newton as a “better famous scientist” amongst a lot of people

Yeah. I’m sure some of Einstein’s work was a spin off of Newton’s. I probably would’ve voted for Newton if I had really thought about it, but ■■■■ it I already voted on it lol

Yeah, I feel history forgets Newton because he wasn’t a celebrity or wasn’t in the typical sense of it. There’s no media to showcase his personal life whereas Einstein has that as an advantage :frowning:

Yeah Einstein does receive a lot of creditability from popular culture. But for good reason, he was a very intelligent person.

I would bet that Newton was more interesting though if I had to guess.

Good thread, very interesting discussions imo

I respect how Newton took up Government/Governance roles. I always feel like Einstein with his intellectual abilities kinda caved into stardom but he definitely has his reasons so no disrespect either (just an opinion i’m sharing for discusison)

I like both. I think they’re both geniuses.

There’s a lot of smart or genius mathematicians and physicists out there.

A lot of them suffer from MI. We only hear about a couple of them.

I think Newton was crazy. I haven’t heard anything about Einstein except his son having schizophrenia.

Yeah, to Einstein’s defense, he did live in the 20th century so it would’ve been hard to resist all the stardom. That’s really weird to think about though. Maybe if he hadn’t became a star, he would’ve had a few more groundbreaking theories.

I haven’t ever heard this about Newton being crazy. What evidence is there to support this I wonder?

For my vote it’s both. Both had different contributions.

Newton laid the foundation of what physics would become.

Einstein in my opinion had more beautiful and complex ideas.

He inhaled alot of toxic stuff during self directed research on “alchemy”

Ahh, got you. Alchemist usually go insane for sure.

Never heard this before, pretty interesting stuff

I wish it was possible to meet these two. What minds man, incredible

Yeah I’m just saying… if I had to pick between the two… I would go with Newton. lol

I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed. That would still be neat to talk to people with that level of brilliance though.

I also heard that Einstein had autism. No offense to anyone with autism, but they don’t seem to enjoy conversations as much

Based on what I read and watched, he was into alchemy, biblical prophecy, and in charge of coinage.

It’s pretty much impossible to diagnose historical figures except for fun, but he may have had Asperger’s Syndrome.

Personally, I’d prefer Einstein over Newton. It’s a personal choice. Some people even argue who actually invented calculus and stuff like that.

I don’t know who was smarter.

Has anyone heard of Carl Gauss? He was pretty smart too.

Yeah, now that I think about it a conversation with Einstein would likely have more substance. I wonder what his take on A.I would be? What would his questions and challenges for it be?

Me and Issac Newton could only talk about gravity and 18th century stuff for so long before he would become boring :joy::joy::joy:

Although, from the sound of it. I’ve had similar delusions with Issac Newton. But I hate talking about my mental health struggles irl. They’re so asinine looking back

Einstein was said to have been working on a final theory (a theory of everything). I’m guessing he didn’t finish.

Of course I’ve read conspiracy theories that he did, but I don’t know haha.

I’d feel better and have more interesting conversations at lunch with Einstein. He helped us win WW2 and other things. I would much prefer Einstein over Newton of course.

I think Einstein was political, but I don’t remember.

He seemed like the ideal scientist to me.
