People here seem very egotistic

people only write and care about themselves, and I hate it.
I, barely surviving, still try to think about others!
I hate the egotism that I see here.
People here see nothing beyond their own arse.

I personally feel the complete opposite.

I sometimes feel that everyone on the forum is out to get me but then the meds kick in :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I think people are nice and caring on this forum compared to any else.

Well a lot of the posters are speaking English not as their first language, and people in general especially on the internet hiding behind computers are egotistical. We’re not all enlightened beings. You should try other message boards, talk about ego man… this one is not even close to others.

The thing is, from what I read here, people write and care predominantly about themselves.
For me, when my situation is bad but not atrocious, I do my best to think about others.
I am happy if others are doing well, even if I am not.
If the normal cared about the ill, all diseases would have been solved long ago.

The internet is a place to come get answers and ask questions. that is the way i have always seen it.

We are not doctors. We looking for advice to sometimes put our minds at ease. Today i got advice on starting a new med. Will i still go over it with my doc 100%.

The internet as a whole is full of trolls. However this place is surprisingly great. Ive never seen a forum where people care so much tbh

I also think you need to make sure you dont miss taking any meds. That is the best advice i can give you.

Yes this place is well managed. The great thing is we have discourse, great mods, great admin, great diversity as sz does not discriminate, a recovery based website, no tolerance for trolls, and all this does set the tone for a most supportive environment

@Erez_Shmerling I’m sorry if you feel alienated. I try to support you the best I could. Sometimes I don’t know what to say to your posts because you’re struggling a lot it seems. I will make an effort to give you advice more in the future in your threads. Some if your posts a little out there but you’re right that’s no reason I can’t help, be reasonable and help get you through and over tough thoughts.

You know, I would like to see people expressing more compassion and offering advice more.
I do think that it’s a good place to get advice, or if you feel particularly bad, to get advice and support.
I think that it is good to take interest in other people, in the world at large, and not be so laser focused on
yourselves. It is good both morally and recovery wise.

Lots of giving people here @Erez_Shmerling.

Erez I struggle with your ideological posts because you expect too much out of mankind in my honest opinion. You expect us to be too ideologically perfect. I used to be the same way and people’s egos would clash with me a lot because I was so far removed from any ego. Then I accepted we are animal, still just human beings. And I’ve tried to blend in with society standards more. You will find your way I have hope!! When you stop trying to change people and go with the flow a little more it makes things easier. I used to bend reality in a way that I hated anything that wasn’t ideologically perfect. Now I enjoy crude humor and non politically correct humor. And it’s easier to act appropriate and I’ve lightened up a bunch and blend with the fellas. I’m not telling you to change right yet but one day you might naturally become more accepting. It’s about finding yourself before being able to accept societal norms.

This forum is one of the last hopes for humanity, there are many good and unselfish people here.

sorry @Goyankees I wouldn’t blend well with people who only care about themselves.
We should try to make humankind better, and make our world a better place for us and for future generations.
Yes I am rather idealistic, I try to improve society and humanity and make the world a better place.

Trying to right society’s wrongs is a great thing in my opinion.

I don’t see that. I see plenty of support and empathy. I personally write A LOT about myself but I offer support whenever I can. A lot of the time when I write about myself I am just doing it to use myself as an example of what it is possible to accomplish even with this disease. Sure I’m just a janitor. But if you take some of the things I’ve done in 37 years with schizophrenia as a whole, I am proud of my story.

I guess right now I’m proving your point, lol.

I’m probably egotistical or come off as egotistical, it’s because I’m hard headed, very hard-headed.

I think in reality this site is very supportive and has a abundance of really good caring members actually.

We don’t always have a real open talk about inner details of the experiences we are having with this illness, something I’d hope to find more.

I think @goyankess may be somewhat right with having a perfectionistic ideaology outlook,
His statement actually brought me into a conscious thinking about it, and I am probably a over perfectionist on getting the “right idea”, but we are really just human.
