I just got back from a med check. I talked to the doctor and he agreed to write a letter saying I’m capable of handling my own finances. They’re going to be sending it to the local Social Security office. Finally, I’ll be free from the Mental Health Association. They made having a payee an incredibly burdensome, annoying, and degrading experience.

Just got back from the Social Security office. I’m my own payee! 
I have direct deposit set up and ready for next month. My old payee will get this month’s benefits but SS said that if she doesn’t pay my bills and just returns the money that I can go in and they’ll give me an immediate payment. She has no control over me anymore.
