I get a panic attack about once a week. They suck, my heart beats fast, I have trouble breathing and I feel like im about to die. They are scary.
Any of you forum members get panic attacks? And if yes, how often?

I get panic attacks.
When I was younger I got them about weekly,
Like you.
Now that I’m on better medicine and can recognize more of the warning signs,
It only happens a couple times a year,
Sometimes less.
I’m magically oblivious to everything around me in social settings. I think being awkward for so long has just made me immune to my own cringe, and sza was the final straw. Not in that I’m separated from reality, but more because I’ve been through so much I no longer sweat the small stuff. I haven’t had panic attacks in a long time. Before I got sza at 30 though, I did have them at least once a year. In high school and young adulthood they were pretty common. The first time I had one I thought I was having a heart attack and I called an ambulance
i get panic attacks couple times a day but i use dbt skills and calming skills that i have learned over many years. at home i got my dogs in public i have my mom as i cant go out alone cause they can be debilitating.
@Charles_Foster - Glad to hear you rarely have them anymore!
My mother was scared in a car. I get scared when someone asks me to do something and I think I can’t do it.
@agent101g - Man i’ve also called an ambulance thinking I was about to die from a heart attack. I ended up in the hospital for many hours just to be told all the tests came back fine and sent me home.
i used to get them alot on geodon and when i withdrawed from klonopin but never anymore. they suck
I used to get them when I took my Xanax as a prn. It was a pain in the ass. I took that bottle every where with me. At work used to have to walk out to the car and get one then I started keeping them in my back pack.
But my PDoc gives me enough to take one a day so I just take one every day now and I don’t get them. I felt the same way you felt. It’s very uncomfortable. I couldn’t work through it.
I have panic attacks in crowded stores. I hide my head into the basket til I get my food. Best thing to do is take a deep breath and make a plan on what you need to do when this happens.or stare at food shelves read a label .idk
I used to get that or anxiety attacks. I read a book about that they cant hurt you its just very uncomfortable. So i used to practice accepting it and just letting it happen.
It disempowered it and i felt more in control of my anxiety.
Its not perfect, i still get anxiety. Its mostly physical and nothing to do with worrying about stuff.
I learned last year that beta blockers as a prn help me a lot.
I take a beta blocker everyday, im on Bisoprolol. @LevelJ1
Oh nice. I take propranolol i just take 20mg if i need it.
I’m glad they help you! @LevelJ1
I’ve had panic attacks for 20 years. I don’t have any advice to give.
I used to get panic attacks almost everyday when I was growing up.
Now I don’t get them anymore but I do get anxious from time to time.
I had my first panic attack driving down HWY 401 in Toronto at 100km/hour (60 miles/hour).
It was my first one and I didn’t know what the hell was going on, all the symptoms you describe, I thought I was going to have a heart attack and die, I’ll never forget it.
Then I had anxiety and panic attacks and agoraphobia for years after that.
I don’t have panic attacks anymore.
Holy sh*t man driving would be the worst time to have a panic attack! I’m glad you dont have them anymore. Maybe as I get older I wont have them anymore. I hope @Headspark
I get them. I take klonopin and buspar.
@GrayBear - Benzos are great for panic attacks! I take Ativan.
