Had a panic attack 30 minutes ago

I was playing a board game with my uncle and cousins and out of no where my heart started beating super fast and super hard, I also started having trouble breathing. Felt like I was going to die. I didnt want to stop playing and cause an embarassing scene.

It didnt last very long thankfully, only about 5 minutes.

Anyone else deal with panic attacks?

I get panic attacks where I think I’m actually going to die,

And I get what I call “anxiety attacks” where I get the feeling of a panic attack,

But still have insight.

They’re terrible.

I have no idea how you didn’t cause a scene.

I always do.

It’s an awful feeling,

I’m glad it’s over for you.

I only get panic attacks when I have a fever. Last time when I was 10 years old I heard something growl beside my bed and the roof was falling in on me. I will never forget it.

Sorry to hear you deal with them also

Agreed 100% they suck

Thank you!

I wake up in the middle of the night with panic attacks followed by hallucinations of people walking around. I’m use to it now. Hope you have a good evening.

Thanks man, you too.

I deal with generalized anxiety with panic attacks. So im anxious all day and then bam! A panic attack can hit, either randomly or from some trigger. But i can usually feel them coming on and take my ativan to stop it. The anxiety during the day i deal with by using my coping skills, boxed breathing, distraction, tapping, talking to my husband, etc. And if i feel like a panic attack is growing, usually in the evenings between 5pm and 8pm for me, i take an ativan. I dont get attacka every day, so i dont take one every day, but im glad i have it for when i need it.

I have suffered from panic- attacks for 20 years now. It sucks!

I am prescribed paxil and beta - blockers. Beta- blockers help. Paxil doesn’t do much.

I have Ativan too, I try not to take it everyday because I was dependent on it in the past. Benzo withdrawal is living hell.

I have generalized anxiety - “agoraphobia”. It’s miserable. But I don’t have panic attacks. They sound like their own special brand of misery.

Yeah they suck mate one of the worst. I have comorbid PTSD combat style and it sucks having a screaming attack is just as bad just more distressing for others. Breath and try not to overthink. You will feel better after lol :joy:

Sounds more like a PTSD attack I have the PTS lol but it’s all the same thing as far as the brain is concerned

I had to have therapy to deal with my panic disorder…I learned how to beat it by “diversion and overcoming fear” of having a panic attack…if you PM me I can coach you what I learned from therapy…practice slow breathing when a panic attack hits you. also focus on something like a polished stone or crystal in your hand in your focus…focus on something like art or something nice in your eyesight or just close your eyes even better.
