Other big kids can spend the night alone

I used to fly with coworker who needed to be pretty tipsy to get on plane…I had to drive the rental car at destination too…Can be okay if you can stand it with the meds or can sleep thru the flight. Meds + alcohol will usually make you really drowsy.

I’m sorry for your anxiety. I used to be in that kind of state until I treated myself for OCD using some psych tactics I learned on the internet. Do not give into the urge/compulsion to check something or do something specific way. Trust yourself and slow down enough in your life to be mindful. It is REALLY unpleasant 3 days, bad 2 more weeks but I no longer have the anxiety. You may have to write in a journal a lot during this time to tell yourself ‘whatever’ doesn’t look normal… You also have to do whatever makes you anxious A LOT after 2 weeks…Mine was driving so I took road trip alone for 12 hours to place I hadn’t been with lots of traffic hitting it at 5 pm on Friday in driving rainstorm and nothing on map. I don’t stress about it any longer…Some folks stress problems/OCD change focus and other people
‘soothe’ their stress another way such as smoking or eating after not doing the double checking or washing up thing any longer… Just a warning.

This isn’t any info you can use right now for this trip but you can think about how your behavior looks to others on this trip ‘if you want’ and watch all the people around you do all this pretty okay…then get motivated. Lots of people don’t like to fly and many stress about family traveling so I think you are running pretty normally…some of the other stuff, you may be more comfortable dealing with. Some of the psych docts (ARNP) and MLSW therapists have almost NO training in this area and may be more harm than good for you if you try to deal with your anxiety there…just a warning. These professionals are good interventionist but the care can be marginal except for meds management & working out delusional (what you can’t discuss there).

Hope this helps.
