On the internet I just post blindly and can’t feel others emotions and thoughts.
Irl, I can gauge how people really feel and change my tone of voice or add a word or two in order to make the sentence non offensive. Sometimes it’s hard to know you’re offending someone online.
Sometimes I will start a sentence and half way through gauge how people feel and change the direction I’m going
Can’t do this online
But other advantages come from talking online.
I mean I think like 8% is what you say and the rest is body language and tone of voice.
Online doesn’t account for that and sometimes I hate that.
I’m better at processing pure data that comes with reading words. People tend to be more forthright, for better or worse, online simply because it’s hard to convey emotion.
There’s emoticons, but those can be misinterpreted as well. One of my online buddies used to say that was a subtle F-U, which made me laugh. Then I remembered all the times people gave me that emoticon, and wondered if people secretly hated me lol!
I’m just bad at interpreting those non-verbal cues. Most of the time I end up ignoring them anyways.
