So I’ve dreamed of writing for years but have never really dived right in and stuck to it before. I was wondering if anyone here knew of any good free writing resources. Like a particular youtube channel, book or something similar? I know i can find things like that easily, but i wanted to ask anyway, In the hope that someone knows of a specifically good one. I’ve been writing little bits here and there but i want fully commit to it. Please and thankyou.

I used to love creative writing but I have no motivation and find it hard to think.

True. I was like that for a long time. I have the motivation lately, but im disorganised with my time and planning and how to go about it properly. I want to just free-write. But i know that the things i write will turn out better in the long run if i am organised and plan well.
My biggest issue is probably setting aside time every day for it.
The advice I keep hearing is to write a page every day first thing in the morning on the topic that interests you. In a year you will have the substance of a book, that you can edit.

Yeah, true. They say that writers should write what they would want to read but can’t find out there. Instead of trying to think of stuff that would entice others. Sounds legit to me. The latter seems almost corrupt, haha. Like a boardroom of suited men at Marvel Studios trying to reel in the people to watch their movies.

Enticing does sound a little sinister and being true to yourself and your interests more honest.

Definitely. It would make the process more fun too. It would be so mechanical and dull to write stuff that you think others would be interested in. I want to write the dream books i wish already existed that i could enjoy now. I have so many ideas. Too many. Gotta narrow it down. I noticed you liked my comment on the what you reading thread. I feel i might have the same problem with writing haha. Switching between ideas. Anyway, thanks for pitching in. Im inspired lately. I wrote a short little scene yesterday and i found it almost fun and cathartic. So i want more of that!

You just got to write to be a writer. A lot of highly regarded writing is actually crap. Just write and as long as its not very crap you’re good.
By crap I mean some Stephen King, Kurt Vonnegut, and some other highly regarded writers.
