I was watching videos about schizophrenia and the comments are horrifying me. People think its so quirky and unique to have schizophrenia like its all positive symptoms. Theyre like “omg i have all these symptoms, that is so me xD!!”, god i hope they get struck by lightning.
Even when i had positive voices i would get sick of them after awhile. Its annoying thinking people romanticise this illness like its some kind of quirk or a personality trait.
@anon21561657 I feel you. It’s not quirky or cute. I have a blog and I think people with SZ might hate. I don’t know how to portray my illness in a light that people with SZ would appreciate. It’s tricky to please everyone and all I want to do is tell my story.
I think it’s sick to glorify violence against people you hate. Take a look at yourself if you wish for someone’s death—maybe you have a personality disorder.
Everyone has basic human dignity that should be respected.
Yea people know nothing about schizophrenia, on Youtube some made jokes and some said rape causes schizophrenia which isn’t true.
Some even said schizophrenics worship the devil and are homosexual.
Its hard to say my full feelings on the ideas people have about schizophrenics, and their relationship to w/e their religious background is.
I just have a hard time thinking that out there, someone in my situation thinks they’re evil because of their faith and its teachings. That really upsets me.
You’re not evil, life is just a stew with many flavors of suffering, you happened to get this one.
I think like that too but then I tell myself how come normal ppl are happier and more successful than us? We suffer more than them. We’re disadvantaged and disabled, its unfair.
they said on the radio broadcast over the weekend,
“Be drunk on the Holy Spirit.”
poets have said, Be drunk… (on something)
but seems oxymoron to be drunk on the holy spirit,
that would be a very sobering thing, unless you went to
the more charismatic churches.
this is kind of the same question I ask myself if it was life experiences
or genetic and unavoidable. or both.
still, I rarely will say, you don’t ask these things to a person who has diabetes and need medicine. Sz. is not even in that category.
To see people on youtube, mostly kids I assume, say things such as “haha that’s me,” warms my heart. Maybe they’re saying it for the wrong reasons, maybe it belittles what we collectively go through, but its a heck of a good start to hold better dialogue.
