I’m utterly crushed.
My psychiatrist of over 12 years is retiring in a couple of months.
She is the best psychiatrist I’ve ever seen.
She saved my life more than once.
Now I’ve got to find a competent doctor in a sea of bad psychiatrists
It’s so rare to find a really good psychiatrist anymore.
She wants me to contact the new doctor right away.
For a while I was seeing an older pdoc who had retired. He was doing analysis in his part time, and he was asking just $25 an hour for it. He was a lot better than this pdoc who charged my parents $110 an hour. But he died. So it goes.
I’d be asking your old doctor who she recommends. They tend to flock together and know others in the profession so see if you can get a recommendation to a decent one. Sorry your losing a good shrink. They are hard to find.
Thanks everyone.
No @rogueone I asked her for a referral but she said that a lot of her colleagues have retired or will be retiring soon.
She said that I could ask my therapist but I’d rather not.
I have a couple of psychiatrists in mind but I’m going to first talk it over with my brother
Yeah hearing that. These days there’s plenty of reviews of psychs on the webs. I’d be checking out patient reviews. I am very lucky my shrink wasn’t that old when I first saw him. I’d be lost too though if he leaves the business.
My psychiatrist is about 40 years old and has had 3 kidney transplants. My guess is she’s not going to be around for long which is too bad because I love her. She’s nonjudgmental, listens, cares, etc. I’ll really miss her when she’s gone
That doesn’t mean they’ll work for me, especially since the doctor couldn’t be arsed to get to know me. It’s bad enough Abilify already gives me a ton of side effects. I’ve heard stories of people ending up with permanent tremors and permanent facial tics they can’t get rid of because of injections. I used to be into art. Not sure if I will return to it, but I sure as hell don’t want a tremor in my hand. No thanks.
