Offering to help when I'm mentally ill and can't

I noticed that when someone has a problem, I want to offer to help and am just learning now that I can’t help and to stay out of it and have someone else help.

This post helped me @PinCushion by being able to relate.

When I first came came home, I wanted to help something, anything. I went to the Red Cross and got CPR/AED and first aid certified for adult and babies. I then signed up for Disaster Relief, attended the initial certification classes and was paranoid that one of the attendees was secretly observing me and plotting to assess me for one of my delusions. I haven’t went back.

I get it, I have to learn my limits on what I can do.

Sometimes you are helping and don`t even know it.
You may just type out a line that someone needed to hear.

I agree. There is almost always more to the situation. Most just want a shoulder to cry on. You can go do something fun together as a party buddy & never talk about it. I like this approach.
