My jobcoach offered me an internship at the institution where i receive my mental health help with. But i dont really know if i want to work with people and their issues.
Has anyone done the program?
I had 2 friends who know peer support workers and i hear they keep relapsing
I don’t have experience myself, but I do have a Peer Support Specialist I see. Anyway, she loves it but says it’s a job that’s better done part time. Otherwise you get bogged down with other people’s issues and it’s not healthy
Yeah thats what i was thinking, i see all those mental health professionals getting ill
The peer support specialist at my center seems to do ok. He’s bipolar though. He’s a cool guy. I May ask him how it’s going or if it’s tough.
I did the Peer Support Specialist training class via Zoom for a week and decided that it’s not something that I could do, at least not yet. My own recovery is still too tenuous for me to be telling others how to succeed in recovery. I do really respect the people that can do it, though, it’s tough work.
