Now, do I have schizophrenia or schizotypal pd?

I am a 16 years old, who has been given the diagnosis of schizophrenia in November, but the other day another doctor diagnosed me with schizotypal personality disorder. Now, what is difference? There is barely any information about people with STPD experiencing psychotic episodes, and I had several psychotic episodes, though they were brief and not as intense. How can one differentiate one from the other, when you experience hallucinations and delusions?

When you change doctors, they sometimes like to change diagnoses. Mental illness is diagnosed in a rather subjective way, so different people will see different things. Lots of people jump between several different diagnoses throughout their lives. I wouldn’t worry too much about the label, though. The treatment is the important part. Just focus on getting your symptoms under control. Everything else is just secondary.

Frankly, psychiatrists don’t like diagnosing people under 21 years old.
I wouldn’t pay too much attention to your diagnosis especially at your age.
It will most likely change as you get older.
